Faculty of Nursing Established (Doshisha Women's College)

The Faculty of Nursing aims to produce graduates who are equipped with highly specialized knowledge and practical skills in nursing, and also capable of responding to various nursing care settings, through an education based on Christianity, Internationalism and Liberal Arts.
The Faculty also provides education with a view to cultivating students going on to graduate school to become researchers or educators who will contribute to the research and development of nursing support methods, as well as the improvement of the quality of nursing practice.

DISK authorized to offer the IB Primary Year Programme

Doshisha International School, Kyoto (DISK) was authorized by the International Baccalaureate to offer the internationally recognized Primary Years Programme as an accredited IB-World school. DISK was the first international school in Japan to be fully authorized after being open for 2 years and 6months.

●Undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Letters, Law, Economics and Commerce offered at the Imadegawa Campus

Upon restructuring the educational programs of the two main campuses, humanities faculties are offered at the Imadegawa Campus, and science and engineering faculties at the Kyotanabe Campus, starting April 2013. The new campus concept allows students to complete their entire undergraduate or graduate education solely on one campus, at the same time as allowing each campus to further capitalize on and showcase its strengths and characteristics.
Imadegawa Campus:

• Education center for humanities faculties pursuing liberal arts and seminar-based specialized education
• Hub institution for developing highly specialized professionals, mainly including professional and independent graduate schools
• International campus where the world's foremost universities set their overseas base

Kyotanabe Campus

• 'Creative Hill', where science and engineering faculties, as well as those integrating humanities and sciences, gather
• Center for multidisciplinary education focusing on experiments, practical training and fieldwork
• Center for international advanced research regarding life and the human body, cutting-edge technology and information

●Faculty of Global and Regional Studies scheduled to be established (Doshisha University)

The Faculty of Global and Regional Studies offers students the opportunity to systematically deepen their knowledge about the culture, history and society of Europe, the Asia-Pacific region and the United States. The primary aim of the faculty is to instill in students highly specialized knowledge required for understanding and analyzing cross-regional issues from multiple perspectives, and to prepare them to become global citizens who will play active roles in the international community.

●Postgraduate Certificate Program in Music (Doshisha Women's College)

Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts established a one-year postgraduate Music Course in April 2013. The course aims to produce music specialists, musicians and music teachers with specialized knowledge in music, as well as excellent performance skills, who can make a valuable contribution to society through music.

●Graduate School of Brain Science established (Doshisha University)

The Graduate School of Brain Science (Major of Brain Development and Aging), established in April 2012, offers a five-year integrated doctoral program. Adopting a tutorial teaching approach, the program aims to promote students' self-directed learning and academic thinking through practical training and experiments, thereby cultivating highly advanced fundamental abilities and skills applicable to a wide range of professions.

●Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences established (Doshisha Women's College)

Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts established the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Doctoral Program in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences) in April 2012. In response to social demands for overcoming intractable diseases and safe use of medicines, this four-year program systematically provides a comprehensive education in basic pharmaceutical sciences and clinical pharmacies through the research and practice of medical pharmacy which connects medical care with drug discovery and development in advanced pharmacological treatment. The aim of the graduate program is to produce professional specialists with advanced expertise and excellent research skills, as well as instructors who can teach others in the field. This program eagerly accepts mature students.

●DISK authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme

Doshisha International School, Kyoto(DISK) was authorized by the International Baccalaureate to offer an internationally recognized diploma - the IB Diploma Programme - as an accredited IB World School. The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year course for 11th- and 12th-year students that prepares them for entering universities worldwide. The IB Diploma is awarded to students who successfully complete the course requirements and pass the examination.

●Faculty of Global Communications and the Institute for the Liberal Arts established (Doshisha University)

As part of an initiative for advancing Doshisha's 'internationalism', the Faculty of Global Communications, and the Institute for the Liberal Arts were established in April 2011. The Faculty of Global Communications nurtures individuals who are able to assume active roles as facilitators, negotiators and administrators in an everchanging and increasingly global society. The Institute for the Liberal Arts provides an interdisciplinary education across six faculties (Faculty of Letters, Social Studies, Law, Economics, Commerce, and Policy Studies). The institute operates 'The Liberal Arts Program', in which international students can obtain a diploma only through the subjects taught in English, and 'The International Specialization Program' in which Japanese students can study in English together with international students from around the world.

●Doshisha International Academy established

An innovative international school, the first ever in Japan, launched by incorporating Doshisha's history and tradition into the future-oriented international curriculum. Doshisha International Academy established in Kizugawa City located inside Kansai Science City. The academy comprises of two schools. DIA Elementary School offers a curriculum that meets International Baccalaureate standarts, as well as English-Japanese bilingual education with 55% of the classes being taught in English. Doshisha International School, Kyoto (DISK) offers an IB-World Curriculum from Grade1 to 12.

●Junior and Senior High Schools unified at the Iwakura campus

Doshisha Junior and Senior High Schools, which had been operated independently, were unified by transferring the junior high school to the Iwakura campus. Through this unification, Doshisha Junior and Senior High Schools, as well as Doshisha Elementary School, are now all at the Iwakura campus, enabling the full-fledged implementation of Doshisha's integrated educational system, of which we are immensely proud.
